Overview

AustSafe Super is the industry super fund for rural and regional Australia. Since 1988 we've been committed to looking after our members' super throughout their working lives and into retirement. As an Industry SuperFund, we're run only to benefit members, which means low fees and a history of strong long-term investment performance1. We also have a team of Regional Managers on hand to help employers understand super and meet their obligations. They live and work in rural and regional areas and they understand the needs of employers. At AustSafe Super we currently look after more than 108,000 members and 15,000 employers with over $1.86 billion funds under management (as at 30 June 2016) and are growing every day.

Investment Option Descriptions

Investment Option Names Description
MySuper (Balanced) This option aims to provide diversification across a range of asset classes with a balance of risk and return. Aims to exceed inflation (measured by CPI) by at least 3% averaged over rolling 10 year periods after tax and fees.
Super Growth This option invests mostly in growth assets allowing members to maximise returns in the longer term. Aims to exceed inflation (measured by CPI) by at least 5% averaged over rolling 10 year periods after tax and fees.
Capital Stable This option has a conservative strategy which aims to provide moderate returns. Aims to exceed inflation (measured by CPI) by at least 2% averaged over rolling 10 year periods after tax and fees.
CRF Capital Stable This option has a conservative investment strategy which expects stable, but moderate returns. Aims to exceed inflation (measured by CPI) by at least 2% averaged over rolling 10 year periods after tax and fees.
Australian Equities This option invests only in Australian shares and is expected to experience a moderate to high level of volatility. Aims to achieve a return after tax and fees that exceeds the S&P/ASX 300 Accumulation Index over rolling 3 year periods.
International Equities This option invests only in shares outside Australia and may experience a moderate to high level of volatility. Aims to achieve a return after tax and fees that exceeds 50% MSCI World ex-Australia Index and 50% MSCI World ex-Australia (hedged) over rolling 3 year periods.
Property This option invests only in property, directly and through property trusts, and is expected to experience a moderate to high level of volatility. Aims to achieve a return after tax and fees that exceeds the Mercer Australian Unlisted Property Index over rolling 3 year periods.
Fixed Interest This option invests solely in fixed interest instruments. It has a lower risk than shares or property but can provide a higher long-term return than cash. Aims to achieve a return after tax and fees that exceeds 50% UBS Composite Bond Index (total) and 50% Citigroup G5 Bond Index (hedged) over rolling 3 year periods.
Cash This option invests in cash only and is generally a secure investment with a very low risk profile. Aims to achieve consistent stable returns with low volatility. Earnings should exceed the Bloomberg Ausband Bond Index over rolling annual periods after tax and fees.
