Overview:

HOSTPLUS is the national superannuation fund for the hospitality, tourism, recreation and sport industries, established in 1987. Over 900,000 members currently enjoy the benefits of being with HOSTPLUS . With more than 50,000 employers, the Fund has total assets in excess of $6.9 billion. HOSTPLUS is run only to profit members. There are no commissions paid to financial planners or advisers and no dividends are paid to shareholders.

  • Consistent returns - Our aim is to achieve strong investment returns, For instance, HOSTPLUS is ranked within the top seven for investment returns on our Balanced (default) option over the last 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 years.   • Low fees - HOSTPLUS’ fees are amongst the lowest of all super funds in Australia at $1.50 per week. Like most super funds investment expenses also apply.

INVESTMENT OPTIONS  
Capital Stable Most conservative and low-risk of the HOSTPLUS pre-mixed investment options. Contains a higher percentage of defensive assets (cash and diversified fixed interest) than the Conservative Balanced and Balanced options.
Conservative Balanced Contains roughly equal proportions of growth and defensive assets. Contains a higher percentage of defensive assets than the balanced option.
Balanced Aims to produce good consistent returns. Investments through diversified investment portfolio, including some growth assets and some lower risk investments.
Shares Plus Contains the highest investment in assets with potential for capital growth among pre-mixed options.
Cash Deposits in short-term loan securities and other similar investments.
Diversified fixed interest Usually a loan to a government or business with a fixed interest rate and the length of the loan agreed in advance.
Property An investment in property or buildings, either directly or via property trusts.
Australian Shares Maximise investment returns over the longer term within the fund’s stipulated risk parameters. The aim is to outperform the S&P/ASX 300 Accumulation Index over rolling 3-year periods.
International Shares Exposure to international shares with the potential for a high level of growth over the long-term. Aims to outperform the MSCI World Accumulation Index (ex – Australia) over rolling three year periods
Macquarie Investment Management – Australian Fixed Interest Passive management.  Guarantee the return of the UBSA Composite Bond Index (All Maturities).  Underperformance of the index by the underlying portfolio is reimbursed by the manager.  Any out-performance of the index is retained by the manager.
Bridgewater Associates – Diversified Fixed Interest Active management with positions in Australian and international indexed or nominal bond markets, and in currencies, that offer good value. May also invest in Alternatives.
Industry Super Property Trust – Property Diversified direct property investments in commercial, retail and industrial assets.
Lend Lease managed Australian Prime Property Funds (Retail & Commercial) – Property Long-term direct investment in a quality portfolio of major-regional core retail assets, commercial assets and industrial assets across Australia.
Balanced Equity Management – Australian Shares Active management style based on fundamental analysis of stocks within the S&P/ASX100 Index.
Macquarie Investment Management – Australian Shares Enhanced passive management. Aim is to match the return of the S&P/ASX300 Accumulation Index.
Paradice Investment Management – Australian Shares Specialises in investing in companies outside the ASX top 100 stocks, as defined by market capitalisation, as well as having the capacity to invest in New Zealand stocks.
Perpetual Investments – Australian Shares Active value driven bottom up stock picking management based on internal research. Invests predominantly in Australian Shares but has the capacity to invest in securities listed in stock exchanges other than the ASX.
AllianceBernstein - International Shares Active style blend of value and growth global equity manager that aims to deliver long-term growth of capital on a total return basis using a barbell structure of high conviction growth and value stocks.
Marvin & Palmer Associates - International Shares Active growth manager investing in countries and shares that the manager believes offer the best opportunity for capital appreciation.
